Alabama Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety is a full-fledged, statewide law enforcement agency comprising six divisions: Administrative, Alabama Bureau of Investigation, Driver License, Highway Patrol, Protective Services, and Service. The department’s employees are committed to preserving the safety of Alabamians and visitors to the state, and they do so through a variety of enforcement, licensing, and educational programs.
Alaska Department of Public Safety
DPS is made up of five divisions, the Division of Alaska State Troopers, Divison of Wildlife Troopers, Division of Fire and Life Safety, Division of Statewide Services and the Division of Administrative Services. DPS also housed the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, the Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault and the Alaska Police Standards Council.
Arizona Department of Public Safety
The Department consists of four divisions - Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Agency Support and Criminal Justice Support. Together these four divisions provide an immense and extensive range of vital scientific, technical, operational and regulatory services to Arizona residents and to the state's criminal justice community. The Arizona Department of Public Safety, with state headquarters in Phoenix, has offices located in more than 30 communities within Arizona's 15 counties.
Arkansas State Police
The mission of the Arkansas State Police is to protect human life and property in the State of Arkansas by providing the highest quality of law enforcement services to the citizens of Arkansas. The Arkansas State Police consists of four divisions - Administrative Services, Highway Patrol, Criminal Investigation and Crimes Against Children.
California Highway Patrol
The mission of the California Highway Patrol is to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security to the people of California. CHP is a statewide law enforcement organization. It is lead by the Commissioner, assisted by the Deputy Commissioner. CHP is divided into two major operations, Staff and Field. Each is lead by an Assistant Commissioner. The Staff operations is comprised of headquarter commands. The Field operations are divided into eight separate field Divisions located throughout the state. Also included in field operations are Office of Air Operations , State Terrorism Threat Assessment Center, and Protective Services Division.
Colorado Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety encompasses these divisions: Colorado State Patrol - ensuring safety on state highways, Colorado Bureau of Investigation -assisting local police departments and sheriffs in criminal investigations, Division of Criminal Justice -helping communities identify and prevent safety issues, Division of Fire Safety - helping train firefighters and Office of Preparedness and Security -keeping watch over the state’s safety.
Connecticut Department of Public Safety
The Connecticut Department of Public Safety is committed to protecting and improving the quality of life for all by providing enforcement, regulatory and scientific services through prevention, education and innovative use of technology. The Connecticut Department of Public Safety (DPS) is composed of three divisions: the Division of State Police, the Division of Fire, Emergency and Building Services and the Division of Scientific Services.
Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security
Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security (DSHS) Mission Statement: to promote and protect the safety of people and property in Delaware. DSHS is comprised of: the Office of the Secretary, the Delaware State Police, the Office of Highway Safety, the Division of Communications, the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, the Capitol Police, the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement, the Developmental Disabilities Council, and the State Council for Persons with Disabilities.
Florida Highway Patrol
The Florida Highway Patrol is determined to provide citizens with the highest level of professional service possible while promoting safety on Florida's highways through enforcement and education. FHP's mission is to promote in a courteous manner a safe driving environment through aggressive law enforcement, public education, and safety awareness; reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes in Florida, preserve and protect human life, property and the rights of all people in accordance with the constitutions and laws of the United States and the State of Florida; design and implement prevention strategies and aggressively enforce DUI laws and other violations identified as crash causation factors.
Georgia Department of Public Safety
The Georgia Department of Public Safety was created in 1937 and oversees the day-to-day operation of the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), Capitol Police and the Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD). GSP troopers investigate traffic crashes and enforce traffic and criminal laws on the state's roads. Capitol Police officers prevent and detect criminal acts, and enforce traffic regulations throughout Capitol Hill. MCCD officers conduct safety inspections of commercial motor vehicles and inspect highway shipments of hazardous materials.
Idaho State Police
The Idaho State Police is divided geographically into 6 regions with a central headquarters and training facility located in Meridian, Idaho. The six regional offices (1-6) are Coeur d'Alene, Lewiston, Boise, Twin Falls, Pocatello and Idaho Falls Each region has a different captain and command staff, and are managed differently. Each region has two divisions; patrol and investigations. Despite the large size of the state, the force only consists of 256 troopers (62 of them assigned to the Investigations Section) and 78 civilian staff.
Illinois State Police

Indiana State Police
The Indiana State Police is a professional state law enforcement agency that includes the Indiana State Capitol Police. ISP consists of six divisions: Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division, Communications Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Field Enforcement Division, Fiscal Division, and Human Resources Division.
Iowa Department of Public Safety
The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) has a history of dedication and service to the citizens of Iowa and those who visit our state. Since it was first established in 1939, DPS has been the chief law enforcement agency in the State of Iowa. DPS is headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa on the Capitol Complex, along with a statewide presence. DPS consists of five divisions: Administrative Services, Criminal Investigation, Iowa State Patrol, Narcoics Enforcement, and State Fire Marshall.
Kansas Highway Patrol
Since 1937, Kansas State Troopers have offered Service, Courtesy, and Protection to the residents of the Sunflower State and to its millions of yearly visitors. The Kansas Highway Patrol has more than 800 employees. KHP provides protection of life and property through active enforcement of traffic, criminal, and other laws of the State of Kansas.
New Jersey State Police
The New Jersey State Police is committed to protect, preserve, and safeguard the constitutional and civil rights of all citizens through impartial and courteous law enforcement with integrity and professionalism. The New Jersey State Police shall ensure public safety and provide quality service in partnership with the communities. The New Jersey State Police provide general police services, general highway and traffic enforcement, statwide investigation and intelligence services, emergency management, support for state and local law enforcement efforts, maintenance of criminal records and identificaiton systems, regulation of certain commerce.
New Mexico Department of Public Safety
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) was created and evolved over the years through statutory changes combining related functions of the State Police, the Special Investigations Division, the Law Enforcement Academy, the Motor Transportation Division, the Crime Laboratory, Emergency Management Operations, Communications, Records, and Information Technology. This consolidation of functions has dramatically increased the scope of Departmental responsibilities.
